Turbomachinery applications place exceptionally high demands on safety and protection, particularly for the overspeed protection of turbines, compressors, and expanders.
Complex systems incorporating turbines, compressors, and other units should only be turned off when absolutely necessary, as non-vital downtime is a costly undertaking. But, at the same time, it must be possible to shut down these systems should circumstances arise which require such action. And this is precisely where our protection systems prove their worth.
BRAUN protection systems monitor these systems and guarantee the smooth operation of safety-critical applications, including rotating parts, as in the case of turbomachinery. Should it be a requirement, this may be implemented in compliance with SIL3 certification.
