Single Channel Speed Monitor E16521D.2 for increased safety requirements up to SIL2

The BRAUN Single Channel Speed Monitor E16521D.2 for increased safety requirements is SIL2 / IEC 61508:2010 compliant. It monitors motors, pumps, feeders, gears, rollers, and small turbines. The device provides protection against overspeed at any required value of rotational speed, including standstill.
The specially designed signal input fits perfectly with Eddy-Current sensors (ECs).

With single-channel processing (1oo1), safety provision is solely determined by the device configuration. Therefore, the use of sensor monitoring with integrated plausibility control is essential. In such a case, no redundancy is provided. Should a fault be detected, the entire system will be shut down immediately.
With two-channel systems, there is a choice of implementation, dependent upon requirements. In principle, the two monitors operate in parallel yet independently. Alarm indication can be realized through the linkage of their Safety Outputs.

For 1oo2 processing, we have system redundancy with enhanced safety through comparative diagnosis. The fault detection of one monitor will shut down the system as a whole immediately. With 2oo2 processing, we still have system redundancy but with enhanced availability. Only the fault detection of both monitors will shut down the system as a whole.
The E16521D.2 Speed Monitor permanently monitors the speed sensor for its correct function. During its complete useful lifetime of 20 years, the Monitor does not require any external proof tests and is completely maintenance-free.

The BRAUN Single Channel Speed and Direction Monitor E16225D for increased safety requirements is SIL2 / IEC 61508:2010 compliant. It simultaneously measures one speed value and the direction of speed with fault indication. The signal input is specially designed for our proven Differential-Hall-Effect-based A5S speed sensors. Either with speed and direction signal (A5S…3) or two-phase shifted speed signals (A5S…4).

Display, setpoints, and analog output may be adjusted to any speed. During its complete useful lifetime of 20 years, the Monitor does not require any external proof tests and is completely maintenance-free.

The BRAUN Dual Channel Monitor E16224D for increased safety requirements is SIL2 / IEC 61508:2010 compliant. It receives input signals from speed sensors or flow rate transmitters. The two signal inputs are specially designed for our proven Differential-Hall-Effect-based A5S speed sensors.

The monitor simultaneously measures one or two speed values (or other quantities transmitted as frequency) and computes their ratio or difference or sum to read and monitor stretch/shrinkage or blend ratio, for instance.
